Independent studio Est. 2021 Remote, three time zones

Four people.
One idea per game.

Concept Squad builds small games that commit to a single mechanic and follow it all the way down. We prototype in a week, playtest in the open, and ship only the ones that still feel good after a hundred hours.

Yes, it is a real build

Games

One game at a time. Everything else we've built so far lives in a folder called /maybe.

Word Voyage

A word game shaped like a journey. Every word you find moves your ship one island further, and the letters you leave behind wash up as the next island's puzzle. No timer, no lives, no daily streak to protect — you sail until you want to stop.

How a concept survives

Every game goes through the same three gates, in order. Most of them stop at the second one, and that is the point.

01

Prototype

One week, one mechanic, no art. If the idea isn't fun as grey boxes, no amount of animation is going to rescue it later.

02

Playtest

The build goes public on itch the same month. We watch twenty strangers play it before anyone on the team argues about scope.

03

Ship or shelve

If it still holds up, we commit two years. If it doesn't, it goes in /maybe with its notes and we start again on Monday.

2 years · or none

The squad

Four people, no producers, no meetings longer than the build time.

Rin

Design & code

Gets the prototype running in the first 48 hours, then spends a year arguing with it about jump height.

Ade

Art & animation

Draws everything at 32×32 first. Believes a walk cycle is a personality test and is usually right about it.

Nils

Audio & music

Records rooms, radiators and one very specific door. Every soundtrack starts as a field recording, not a synth patch.

Bex

Production & community

Runs the playtests, reads every itch comment, and is the only reason anything ever gets a release date.

Devlog

We write one of these every time a build changes in a way we can explain.

Play with us,
or work with us.

Playtesters, composers and publishers are all welcome — as is anyone who just wants to send us a bug report at three in the morning. We read everything.
